Wildfire Fireshed Assessment Area
Wildfire risk assessments begin by defining the relevant area where wildfires may affect a project or the project may affect the local fire regime. Forester’s Co-Op uses a comprehensive approach that includes the consideration of features such as topography, aspect, slope, fuels, assets (such as homes, businesses, or other infrastructure), natural and anthropogenic fuelbreaks, and access and impediments to fighting wildfire in addition to professional expertise and discretion to define a project’s fireshed. The fireshed becomes the assessment area for geogrphically-based wildfire risk assessment models.
